Vigilance Awareness Week – 2009 was
observed in ECL from 3rd November, 2009 to 7th November, 2009.
At ECL
Headquarters, on 03.11.2009 at 11 AM, the function started with playing
of Corporate Geet of Coal India Limited. The Pledge was
administered by Shri S. Chakrabarti, CMD, ECL to all officers and
staff. On this occasion, the Directors, CVO and all Area CGMs/GMs
were present. The Messages of Hon’ble President of India, Prime
Minister, Vice President, Leader of the Opposition and the Central
Vigilance Commission were read over respectively by Shri A.K.Sinha,
D(F), S.Chakrabarti, D(T) (OP), N.Kumar, D(T)(P&P), SK Choudhary,
CVO and MUK Menon, GM(Vig).
In all the Areas,
at the Area offices, Sub-Area Offices, Workshops and Hospitals and all
other establishments of ECL including ECL Sales Office, Kolkata, pledge
was administered by the Senior most officer present to all the
employees working at the respective places.
At Dishergarh
Club, Jhalbagan on 7.11.09 the concluding function was presided over by
CMD, ECL and Justice Mr. Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta, Hon’ble High Court
Judge; Kolkata was the Chief Guest for the occasion. CVO, ECL welcomed
the Chief Guest and all the Dignitaries. In his welcome speech, he
deliberated on the programmes organized during the Vigilance Awareness
Week.
Justice Mr.
Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta, Hon’ble High Court Judge, Kolkata, in his key
note address on the subject “Corruption and its impact on individuals,
organization, State and Nation”, deliberated on the importance of
transparency in day to day working and stressed the need of officials
at high places being transparent in declaration of their assets. He
dwelt upon the various important laws such as RTI Act, 2005, Prevention
of Corruption Act, 1988, etc.
On this occasion,
a book published by Vigilance Department, ECL on “Contract &
Procurement Management vis-à-vis CVC Guidelines” incorporating
the rule position and the relevant latest CVC guidelines on the
subject, was released by the Chief Guest.
CMD, ECL
delivering the presidential address explained the difficulties of ECL
and appreciated the aspects deliberated by Hon’ble Chief Guest.
Vote of Thanks was proposed by GM (Vig), ECL.
