SHRI SMARAJIT CHAKRABARTI CHAIRMAN CUM MANAGING DIRECTOR Born in 1950 in Coochbehar of West Bengal. Graduated in Mining Engineering from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in 1972. After a brief period of post-graduate practical training in an iron ore mine, he joined the coal industry soon after nationalisation in 1973.He was among the first batch of Junior Executive Trainees to join Coal Mines Authority Limited and worked in Western Division which later became Western Coalfields Limited. He obtained his First Class Colliery Managers’ Certificate in 1976 and acquired M. Tech in Mining Engineering from Indian School of Mines in 1983. During the following three decades he served in WCL, NCL, BCCL and CMPDIL in various capacities. Before taking over the charge of CMD, ECL from 01.04.2007, he was Director (Technical) in CMPDIL, Ranchi.In connection with training and other official assignments he visited countries like the U.K., Germany, Iran and Australia.
