Shri
Pravat Ranjan Mandal (57) is 1973 batch graduate mining engineer from
Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.
Shri Mandal is having more than three decades of experience in Coal
Industry and held key positions in his distinguished career. Currently
he is Adviser (Projects), Ministry of Coal, Govt. of India. His current
assignment includes strategic planning, technical upgradation of coal
industry including ushering in development of clean coal technology
both in short-term and long-term perspective, capacity building
in India aiming towards improving availability of coal and coal based
energy sources for the nation and to maintain its competitive advantage
in energy sector.
He has the distinction of rendering professional services across the
entire gamut of coal mining from project planning both for surface and
underground coal projects, operations, strategic planning and
environmental management. He was one of the key architects in
formulating mines plans for introduction of advance mining technology
like longwall and continuous miner technology in Coal India Limited.
Shri Mandal had attended training programme in Underground
Mechanisation in Germany and widely travelled to Russia, Australia,
USA, Indonesia, Japan and Europe.
He is an ardent reader and technology-savvy professional. He maintains
harmonious relationship and man-machine interface. He joined ECL Board
on 7th March 2006.
Shri Mandal is also in the Board of Minerals Exploration Corporation
Ltd., Nagpur.
